CROTCHDUSTER (so good, it had to be written in capitals)

Big Fat Box of Shit by Crotchduster

Holy fucking shit, I don't think I've ever laughed so hard while listening to an album, if you can even call this big fat box of shit an album. I...can't seem to come up with words to describe this, except for a mixture of crazy/awesome: CRAWSOME. This album is fucking CRAWSOME. Someone was kind enough to come up with an equation to aptly describe this record: Mr.Bungle + randomness + Tenacious D + grindcore + death metal + pervert lyrics + more randomness + parodies + dozens of different genres of music + more randomness = Crotchduster

Yes folks, that about sums it up. Be prepared to...er...just listen to the fucking thing.

Isis

Wavering Radiant by Isis

Isis is one of my favourite bands. The first album I got was Panopticon and after it completely blew me the fuck away, I decided to get all of their albums and monitor their sound's
progression from Celestial to In The Absence Of Truth and I've never been disappointed, although it took me a while to fully appreciate the record. Their latest album, Wavering Radiant, was quite puzzling when I first got it, what with the overwhelming amount of post-rock passages and whatnot. Still, I've listened to it a couple of times and it's quickly growing on me. Check it out, and leave comments.

Zoe

The Last Axe Beat by Zoe

Zoe are a band from Japan that play that doom-y crust, very much like Amebix. In fact, I think the whole album is Amebix worship. And that's not a bad thing.

Dead Meadow-s/t

This is a band that I accidentally stumbled upon while doing my regular check-ups of all my bookmarked forums and blogs. This particular gem of an album might not appeal to a lot of people due to the very fuzzy, stoner rock-ish, and very laid back general atmosphere of the album. But whatever, I like it. So move your peepers over to the bottom of the post for linkage. get blazed

Salome

Salome s/t

The words "slow" and "tortured" come to mind when I think about this self-titled release by Salome, the sludge/doom band from the US. I haven't listened to this album too much mainly because I'm hardly ever in the mood, but I can definitely see myself going back to it when I feel like listening to Kat (who also handles vocal duties for Agoraphobic Nosebleed now) and her harsh screams amidst the churning mix of guitars and drums. Oh, there's no bass here fyi.

Boris-Amplifier Worship

Amplifier Worship by Boris

So I was contemplating what Boris album to put up (since they're one of my favourite bands) and I didn't know whether to put their extreme drone stuff a la Absolutego or their stoner rock-y/sludge stuff a la Heavy Rocks and Pink and then it hit me. Why not put up something that, to me, sounds like it's right in the middle? The album in question is none other than Amplifier Worship, an hour's worth of HEAVY, plodding riffs that are very Melvins and Earth inspired. Learn to love the feedback, guys. This album is intense and there's never a boring moment. Depends on what you think of the genre anyway. Anyhoo, the album was a big file (and I haven't gone Pro on Mediafire yet) so this is going to be a 2 part download. It's worth it!

Hope you enjoy! More Boris related posts coming in the near future.

Black Star (no, not the Carcass song)

Check this. This is a group I've been listening to extensively. Featuring 2 of my favourite MCs of all time, Talib Kweli and Mos Def, this is not your typical radio plastic bullshit. No, this is BLACK STAR:hip-hop duo extraordinaire.

This album is AMAZING. The rhymes are sick, the flow is flawless and the beats are chilled out and laid back. Pretty much everything about this album is perfect. Greatly recommended.
