toe - the book about my idle plot on a vague anxiety

This has quickly become my favourite toe album and one of my favourite albums of all time. There was a toe post here not too long ago (For Long Tomorrow) but I'm posting this band up here again. This is instrumental post-rock at its best, imo. Not to mention their drummer is bloody insane. You should get this, you'll love it, no matter what kind of music you're into.

Mouse on the Keys

So much for variety. I know Mouse on the Keys are quite similar to Toe but they are also equally mind-blowing. Post-rock/jazz fusion from Japan (hmm...I'm starting to see a pattern here...). Here is the first of many wonderful full-lengths, An Anxious Object.

Here is toe, a mathy/post-rock band from japan with a relatively fast-paced sound that for some reason seems to me to be a blend of russian circles and mouse on the keys. Tbh, I don't crazy for too many post-rock bands, but these guys have something going on here. Acoustic guitar, vibraphone, keyboards, bass and drums all mixed into one big, awesome stew. I can see myself enjoying the shit out of this thoughout the coming week.

DMST

Do Make Say Think. According to last.fm, this band got its name from the posters on the walls of some classroom, their first rehearsal room. To be completely honest with you, I've never listened to any post-rock quite as, erm, refreshing as this. Very interesting melodies on this here album, mainly due to the extensive use of jazzy drums, synthesizers and, very subtley, wind-instruments.
